Discussion- strengthen the mechanisms on Gender Equality in Georgia
Discussion on Gender Equality, Violence against women and Domestic Violence was held with the participation of Government, EU Delegation, International Organisations, NGOs, Media and Civil Society representatives. The importance to strengthen the institutional mechanisms on gender equality and the role of media in preventing the gender-based violence was discussed at the meeting. The chair of the Inter-Agency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence Issues, Ms. Sopo Japaridze presented the progress reports on Governmental Action Plans of Georgia for 2018-2020 on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, on the implementation of the UN SC Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security (Resolution 1325) as well as the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment section of the Human Rights Action Plan.
