In the framework of the EU project a two-day seminar was held for journalists on the gender sensitive media coverage. Fifteen journalists from different TVs, printed and electronic media outlets took part in the seminar. The participants discussed the role of media in shaping public perception about women and gender equality as well as their role in reporting cases on violence against women.
Domestic Violence victim Ms. Dea Goshkheteliani took part in the seminar. Her story is well known for the public exactly due to the active coverage by the media. While discussing her story media representatives underlined their role in accurate reporting of gender-sensitive cases.
The experience of National Observatory of the Image for Media and Gender Equality of Spain was presented by the director Maria Jesus Ortiz, who was specially invited for the event to share the Spanish experience with Georgian journalists.
