International Conference on National Mechanisms for Gender Equality
The international two-day conference on national machineries on gender equality was held on March 5, in Tbilisi, with the participation of Expert Group from Spain, Serbia, Sweden and Latvia with Georgian counterparts. The role of national mechanisms in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment was the main topic discussed by the participants. The conference was organized by the EU Project Support to the Inter-Agency Commission on Gender Equality issues. Representatives of the Central Government of Georgia as well as local municipalities, EU Delegation, UN Agencies and Civil Society participated in the conference. The Chairperson of the Inter-Agency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence issues Sopo Japaridze and Co-Chair of the Commission, the first Deputy Minister of Justice Mr. Gocha Lordkipanidze opened the Conference and addressed the audience.
